Authorities now say the man is believed to be responsible for at least six additional robberies and break-and-enters across Ontario and Quebec.

Fairview Mall Shooting Incident

According to investigators, the suspect—identified as Kyle Douglas Prouse—entered Fairview Mall shortly after opening on April 21 with the intention of robbing a jewelry store. During the attempted robbery, a security guard who confronted him was shot.

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a white van, which was later recovered. He is believed to have continued his escape in a black Honda Accord.

Police Investigation and Criminal Pattern

At a Monday press briefing, Inspector Kristy Smith stated that the mall shooting was not an isolated incident.

Police now believe Prouse has been involved in:

  • At least six robberies and break-and-enters

  • Crimes spanning Ontario and Quebec since 2023

Authorities describe the suspect as a repeat offender with an “escalating and dangerous” pattern of criminal activity.

Public Safety Warning

Police are urging the public to remain cautious, noting that the suspect poses a serious risk. Officials have released multiple surveillance images of Prouse from recent years to assist in locating him.

Investigators warned that anyone helping him avoid arrest could face criminal charges.

Reward and Appeal

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered through Crime Stoppers for information leading to his arrest, available until June 30, 2026.

Police are urging anyone who sees the suspect to:

  • Call 911 immediately
  • Avoid approaching him under any circumstances

Inspector Smith also directly urged the suspect to surrender, advising him to contact legal counsel and turn himself in.

The search for the Fairview Mall shooting suspect remains active as police continue to investigate his alleged involvement in a broader pattern of violent robberies. Authorities say updates will be released as more information becomes available.
